Bug Description

Today I noticed audacious is not launching anymore in Hardy, on AMD64

When I attempt to launch from a terminal, I get:

s$ audacious
amidi-plug(amidi-plug.c:amidiplug_init:97): init, read configuration
amidi-plug(i_backend.c:i_backend_load:107): loading backend '/usr/lib/audacious/Input/amidi-plug/ap-alsa.so'
amidi-plug(i_backend.c:i_backend_load:145): backend /usr/lib/audacious/Input/amidi-plug/ap-alsa.so (name 'alsa') successfully loaded
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/ludwig/.config/audacious/playlist.xspf"

I did a
sudo apt-get purge audacious

and then reinstalled, but the problem persists. It appears that a late update has completely borked audacious on Hardy.

Hopefully this can be fixed soon!!! Audacious was "my music program"

I second that. Audacious is broken in Ubuntu Hardy x86. I have tried to reinstall it and it doesn't work. I cannot install xmms too, with apt-get giving me the following error.

~# apt-get install xmms
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package xmms is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package xmms has no installation candidate

Are these two related ?

Anyway Audacious error:
~$ audacious

Thank you for reporting back. Please uninstall all plugins and try again. audacious-crossfade plugin is known to cause an immediate crash on startup. Fix is in the pipeline. Until then, let me know if you still experience crashes if all plugins have been uninstalled.

After an apt-get update, my installation worked perfectly this morning. I was devastated when xmms was gone and audacious would not install.

Thanks for this, you are my hero!
