Bug Description

Binary package hint: cupsys

I have samsung ml-1520 usb printer which is connected to my edimax print server and i run ubuntu hardy. I go to http://localhost:631 and i add printer without trouble (socket://print.server.ip:9100), than i go to print a test page, cupsys sends a job to printer. printer starts something, but doesn't take paper. This is not a printer, or print server problem, because i tried to do same thing on my laptop which runs ubuntu feisty, and everything works fine, printer starts to print and takes paper and prints test page. I hope i explained the problem well, and I am sorry for my lousy english.

UPDATE:

I have found out that if i connect printer to USB port, directly to my computer printer with same driver works fine, but over print server doesn't work.

Same here, Edimax 1203 print server, Kyocera FS-680 printer, fresh install of Hardy. When I create a new printer, either as LPD oder IPP, and then print a test page, it takes a long time, then a small part of the page is printed correctly. After that, the printer sporadically prints pages with random characters.
Everything worked fine with Gutsy before, and still works from my notebook.

Confirmed on hardy amd64:
No printing at all to my edimax 3103. All protocols ipp, socket, lpd are extremly slow with kernel 2.6.24. The kernel seems to block or break the transfers to printservers. When using 2.6.22 on hardy, i can print with socket and ipp to my edimax.
None reasons found in the logs, the status of apparmor does not affect this problem.

Bye
Eric
