Bug Description

The Live CD boots into some command prompt and spits out this error:

[timestamp] ata1.00 revalidation failed (errno=-5)
[timestamp] ata1.00 revalidation failed (errno=-5)
then these repeat over and again:
[timestamp] ata2.00 exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
[timestamp] cmd a0/00:00:00:24:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0 pio 36 in
[timestamp] Status {DRDY}
untill i pull the power plug and start again.

I installed the release candidate onto an external hard drive and was able to boot into it, i booted without the quiet tag and i found out where it spits out these errors: after it tries to load hardware drivers.

anyone else get this error? cause I cant start in ubuntu without this fixed.

I get pretty much the same error when booting the 24-17 kernel after upgrade to hardy from gutsy

[timestamp] ata1.01 exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
[timestamp] cmd C8/00:08:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/f0 tag 0 dma 4096 in
[timestamp] Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 0
[timestamp] Status {DRDY}

I can however boot into the 22-14 kernel without any issues, and the upgrade seems to be fine, saying its 8.04

quite annoying really.

HI
         I also have this problem, I don't know why ubuntu developer did this problem for the new release where it suppose to be the greatest server ever released by ubuntu.

        I hade a server runing ubutnu 7.10 64 bites and every thing was fine, so decided to install the new version Hardy on the same server, and what happen, you can't install it it show you this error:

ata3.00: exeption Emask 0*0 SAct 0*0
Serr 0*0 action 0*2 frozen
cmd a0/01:00:0:60:00/00:00
status {DRDY}

 Please is Hardy not stable yet, or what is going wrong with ubuntu new release?, please help, is any one know when ubuntu will release the fix for that?
