Bug Description

Binary package hint: miro

Miro does not install menu entry in Hardy Beta.

Installed Miro with apt. There is no menu entry in Applications.

Should probably be fixed by adding a desktop file, creating menu entry Applications: Sound and Video: Miro.

This bug is present in Hardy Beta and miro 1.1.2-0ubuntu2. Used to work in Gutsy. Details of Hardy testing setup used: http://www.iki.fi/karvinen/ubuntu_hardy_8.04.html

Gnome. No special tweaks, just what was installed with Hardy Beta.

When installing miro (with apt-get) on a hardy system (upgraded from gutsy), there was no menu item, either.

When I opened alacarte from the Main Settings menu, though, Miro was shown in the sound and video category (inside alacarte), and also the check mark (show/hide) was checked (=set to "show").

When I unchecked and rechecked the checkbox, "Miro Internet TV" was added to the actual sound & video menu category.

+1 on this bug, and thanks kbit. Your workaround worked for me.

kbit, thanks for the easy work around. It's System > Preferences > Main Menu you need to go to. Unchecking and checking again Miro Internet TV will make it visible. So, confirming this in Hardy 8.04.1.

I tested it in an Intrepid VM, and I saw the menu entry without any need to do the alacarte trick.
Can someone confirm it is working fine there?

Can't confirm it.

I try today to install it by add/remove program in a intrepid VM and the menu entry is visible. As the .desktop was correct, maybe alacarte fix.

This seems to work in Intrepid, and all the files seem to be in place. Can anyone test the new package 1.2.6-0ubuntu1 in Intrepid?

I've got hardy, all updates installed. Gnome. Does not show up in menu if installed via apt-get or synaptic (tried both).

Strange thing is it shows as checked in 'edit menu'.

I'm not sure why it's (apparently) not working in Hardy.

But I'm only really interested in whether it's working in Intrepid now.

This bug is still- or perhaps again - evident in Lucid. When I figured out the workaround, I found miro checked, but it wasn't showing anyway. I unchecked and then re-checked it, and it popped up in the menu.
