Bug Description

Dear Sirs,

I installed Kubuntu using Wubi after installation I get the message that no such partition available.

I always find this very odd. You use an installer that suppose to do the job and suddenly something goes wrong. Are these packages tested? I know it's a beta version, but it should work.

I also want to report that Wubi simply does not work on some computers. Installation stops and shows the following message: cannot access the CD; please check that it is not used by another .....

samarita, the CD issue is usually due to bad medium see https://bugs.launchpad.net/wubi/+bug/207137

For the above (no such partition is available) I would appreciate more info. Please check https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#head-a2f73efbce9a94cf460a095713c599594c3a05d1 first and be as specific as possible regarding the error message. If you have multiple hard disk in particular, see the first section in the link above.

Hello,

Thanks for responding. I am trying to install Kubuntu again so I can send you the exact error.

But Wubi is not able to access the site. Error: the requested url returned error: 403. This should be simple I guess.

That was a temporary server outage, should be ok now. Otherwise download the Desktop ISO manually from any mirror and put it in the same dir as wubi executable

I wanted to show you these messages. I installed Kubunt using Wubi. But it is not starting. It keeps on searching the cd-players and then it show the following message:

Busybox V1.1.3
(debian 1:1.3- 5ubuntu12) Built-in sehll (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands
(initramfs)

I hope you can make something out of this? Is it always so dificult to install this?

For what it's worth, Kubuntu installed flawlessly for me on Windows XP using Wubi-8.10-rev515 from http://wubi-installer.org/devel/minefield/.
