Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
Under circumstances I'm unable to determine, I find that Compiz locks up occasionally.
Music remains playing, and I can move the mouse pointer. However, all keyboard events seem to be sucked up. I can't switch VT, and I can't even get the capslock light to light up on my Mac (I'm unsure of the keyboard indicator light test on my desktop PC). SysRq combinations do work, however, assuming your keyboard has a SysRq key!
If I have access to another machine and I am running an ssh service, I can log in and kill compiz to recover my situation.
If I don't, the only thing I can do is a hard reset, often resulting in data loss.
This occurs on both the machine I am reporting this from (AMD64 Hardy with proprietary NVidia driver) and on my desktop (i386 Hardy with open source ATI driver). Recently, the proprietary ATI driver FGLRX has been enabled to work with Compiz, so I will try using that for a while too.

I would like to confirm this. I experience the exact same symptoms on both an intel i945 video card and an Nvidia GeForce4 on intel x86 processors. It usually seems to happen when there is a video being played, totem or flash.
