Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Ubuntu Hardy Beta + all updates, upgraded from Gutsy on an Intel GMA-950 (945 chipset).

Using gnome-display-properties to rotate the screen does not flip X/Y heights, so a widescreen display ends up to use only part of the screen with the rest of the "width" (now height) cut off. I.e. 1280x768 needs to be 768x1280 to be fully visible.

Hmm, not sure but this might be by design... Can you explain in more detail how you think it should work?

Right now if I rotate the screen for example right, I get a picture on my notebook's display that is 768 pixels wide (height of the rotated screen), and 1280 tall (width of the rotated screen). This, because of the display's native resolution, causes the rotated screen's width to be cut off at 768 pixels.

On Windows, if I rotated the screen using the Intel driver's feature, the screen resolution changed to 768x1280 (thus portrait), allowing me to rotate the notebook physically, and read the screen as if it were a book.

Could you please recheck it with a Hardy Live CD? It is working fine for me. Changing rotation (left or right) changes resolution from 1680x1050 to 1050x1680.
