[hardy] firefox does not open objects of type application/x-vlc-plugin with VLC

Bug Description
My college offers an IPTV service based on VLC. It's worked well for me in the past, but now in Hardy, Firefox insists on using Totem to open the streams. I guess The Real WTF here is that the VLC-based streaming system is producing streams that Totem (or anything that's not VLC, really) can't read, but I would like objects defined as application/

Please attach your .pluginreg.dat file to this bug. to find it, type
find $HOME/. mozilla/ firefox -name pluginreg.dat
in a terminal.
