Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

When I am in a chat on my AIM screen name, I tend to be disconnected from the chat room I am in after 5-15 minutes for no apparent reason. After being disconnected, I have to either wait upwards of 20 minutes to rejoin the chat or quit Pidgin and start up again to be able to re-enter the chat room. All other functions of Pidgin still work properly, including normal IM conversations, even when disconnected from the chat room.

Ubuntu 8.04
pidgin:
  Installed: 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected: Stay in chat for as long as I would like, dependent on Internet connection
Happened: Disconnect specifically from chat room, regardless of strong, stable internet connection.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
