Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Boot kernel 2.6.24-16-generic, but network and NVIDIA was not functioning

Then boot "old" 2.6.24-12-generic, then NVIDIA was still not functioning (network is ok), then this crash repport.

dragging this along with bug #212360 to bug #212271. Issue appears related to saa7134_alsa module. If you don't have that module loading, this bug is not a duplicate.
