I can't actvate the extra visual effecst

Hello,
I experience this problem since the last update.
Before the upgrade,
When I setup the extra visual effect the application install the ati mobility radeon driver and ask me to reboot.
I do this many time because after some reboot, the driver hang and I should restart ubuntu with the recover mode.
and recreate an X configuration without the driver, and setup the driver again.
