Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Could not initialize the package information

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_awn-testing_ubuntu_dists_gutsy_main_binary-amd64_Packages, E:No se pudieron analizar o abrir las listas de paquetes o el archivo de estado.'

I'm using Xubuntu 7.10, to solve the problem, I try to delete this archive "/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_awn-testing_ubuntu_dists_gutsy_main_binary-amd64_Packages", and then "sudo apt-get update", but the problem persists.

Maybe It's a problem with AWN packet in launchpad (I don't Know), because I unmark the line of these sources
"http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu gutsy main"
"deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu gutsy main"
and the problem disappear

Same to me but not gutsy. I am using the hardy beta.
 After unchecking both sources:
"http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main"
"deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main
I was able to update hardy.

the error messages indicate that this is a problem with the ppa archive. Marking as invalid against update-manager

The awn-testing ppa is now functioning correctly. You can re-add it to you source.list.

I had this too, thanks for taking care of it so quickly...a sudo apt-get update takes care of it!
