Bug Description
The improved integration of firefox and gnome in Hardy made me lose a feature. Not sure if the problem is in firefox 3 or a gnome package.
Steps to reproduce
1. open a web page with a file selector (e.g. try to add a comment/attachment to this issue).
2. the field representing the path to the local file is greyed out. It is not possible to navigate to it using the keyboard
3. Copy paste a path in the field representing the path to the local file (e.g. using middle click after selecting a path from the terminal, or CTRL+C).
What happens
Nothing is pasted
Expected
Paste works
Alternatives/
3. try to type in the path by hand. This time a file selector pops-up
What happens
File selector opens
What I would like
To type by hand
Both use cases reduce my productivity:
* pasting should work
* opening the file selector and navigating is usually much slower than typing/pasting e.g. /tmp/diff.txt

This has been driving me nuts too!! With Firefox 2.x, I could choose either:
(a) type the filename by hand in the text box
(b) click the Browse button and get a file selector dialog
Great!
Now, with Firefox 3.0, clicking on either pops up the file selector dialog. Maddening when I know the path and don't want to wait a few seconds for the dialog to load :-) Is there any way to fix this? Maybe a config hack??
