Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Running Hardy x86_64, all the latest updates, pidgin version 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.

The URLs are recognized and displayed as hyperlinks, but clicking on them has no effect. Neither does right-click and "Open link in browser".

This used to work in Gutsy.

Hi, Fedor!

Could you run pidgin from the Terminal with the -d option, then try clicking on your hyperlinks and seeing if any useful output (related to xdg-open) will be produced? Thank you.

Thanks for the tip!

Actually, xdg-open doesn't seem to work on my system, running it manually produces this:

$ xdg-open 'http://launchpad.net' ; echo $?
Error showing url: There was an error launching the default action command associated with this location.

The same error is printed to the pidgin debug log.

So, I guess it's not a pidgin bug, but rather xdg-utils's one.

Issue solved: firefox wasn't the preferred browser application by some reason. Setting it to be the default fixed the problem.

Thanks.
