Bug Description

Before the reboot the installer copies installation files from the CD to the
harddrive, then after the reboot it installs everything for real, correct? This
is rather strange behaviour compared to other installers, and it causes a long
installation of over half an hour or so.

Since Ubuntu Express is coming in the next release, Dapper Drake, I'm sure the
installation procedure will be fine-tuned then. Nobody replied on this bug
report anyway, so I thought I might as well close this bug report.

The traditional installer is *not* being deprecated and will still be supported,
so it is not valid to close bugs about the traditional installer just because
the live installer is on its way.

This bug will probably be fixed by moving all the remaining pieces of
base-config to the first stage. We're tracking this work in Debian (and I've
been helping with some of it), but I can't yet say whether it will land in time
for Dapper.

We've moved to a single-stage installer in Dapper now (even the traditional
installer; Ubuntu Express will be single-stage too, of course), fixing this bug
report.
