Cheese doesn't recognize my labtec webcam in hardy

in hardy, cheese doesn't recognize my labtec webcam, it is very strange because amsn (for example) see great my webcam and i can make video conversation...

the bug is always present after the RC installed and all updates.

I am unable to get cheese/camorama to use my Bus 004 Device 002: ID 046d:0870 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Express.
This is on Ubuntu Hardy heron 8.04 with kernel 2.6.24-19-generic on an AMD 64 x2.

I have experienced several crashes while trying to get the camera to work.
