Bug Description

I was downloading a file and Firefox told me I ran out of disk space. After this, I deleted the file from my hard disk. Now, the internal state of that entry in the Download List is messed up. I right click and press pause and cancel, nothing happens. It stays as it is in the screenshot. And, right clicking and trying to clear the list of downloads clears only the other downloads.

After clearing, the incomplete file is still there, this time with unknown time remaining. The second screenshot shows what happens after the list is cleared. In addition, files I downloaded after the "disk space" problem refuse to update their status even though they are done and downloaded to disk. So, the state of the Downloader is somehow corrupted.

(This has happened twice, and is reproducible.)

I don't think it's related to two Ubuntu-7.04-Desktop files being listed there, because last time it happened I only tried to download a big file once and this happened.

When I restarted Firefox, they all began downloading again.

xknight, when you close firefox it should ask you if you want to cancel downloads, atleast 2.0 did, does 3.0 give this dialog?

John Vivirito: sorry, I can't remember if it asked me to cancel, when the bug was occurring.

I actually had 0 bytes left on my disk, per "df -h".

It asking you if you want to cancel is a feature and that is why i asked if it did. When you are able to reproduce this please keep us informed.

John Vivirito: sorry I don't know what you mean by greater than 5 MB of storage left. My downloads all continue until I reach 0 bytes of disk space. They download and complete fine if I have any free space left. If not, Firefox shows an error saying I ran out of disk space (0 bytes), and after this the download dialog is messed up. Seems to me something is not being handled properly after the message is gone, even after the space is restored.

I am not sure I understood you. Did you want me to test what happened if there was 0 < x < 5MB left after the downloading of a file?

In fact, I began a download and then used File->Quit, pressing "Save and Quit" on the dialog. It did not tell me I had any downloads running and it proceeded to quit anyway. As I restored my session, the download started again.

All it says is: Do you want Firefox to save your tabs and windows for the next time it starts?

does this still happen in latest firefox 3? can you also reproduce this by removing the file without having the download stop because of running out of disk-space?

It still happens. I was downloading a file, and firefox told me i had no more disk space (i really hadn't). I deleted some files, but the download hasn't finished. Now the cancel or the pause button have no effect. All subsequent downloading creates an entry with 'Starting...' status, but the title shows the correct time remaining, and the files are downloading without error.

The downloads are restarting after restarting firefox and everything works as intended.

The version i use:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060308 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.0.11
