touchpad malfunction when powered by battery acer aspire 5520

Bug Description

the touchpad work correctly when the laptop is powered by ac/cd adapter.
when unplug and run powered by battery it start to malfunction, intermitent.
if plug it again work well again.
also, when running by battery, if unplug the internet (eterneth) the touchpad work well.
it happends instantly at the moment i plug or unplug, without any messages, warnings, etc

i think maybe is a hardware problem, maybe a short circuit or bad contact, dont know, cause it start working well just by touching the metal body of the plug in the eterneth cable with my finger.
i will try an all plastic cable plug, i had one before but the metal one come with my motorola modem, so its the one i have using.
whats strange is that in windows vista (oem) it work without problem, and in ubuntu 7.1 it work too as far as i remember, was after enabled restricted drivers that start malfuction and even when removed the problem stay.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that this is an older issue; is it still happening in the latest release 8.04 Hardy? If so, set the bug status to 'new' and leave a comment to signify that it is ready for triage / review. Otherwise if the issue has been fixed, please set the status to 'invalid'.
