jockey-gtk crashed with AttributeError in enabled()

i'm having severe problems opening various menu entries under system->prefs and system->admin. when the desired menu entry (for example "login window" or "hardware drivers" is klicked, nothing happens, except an entry in the task bar appears. then, several seconds to a minute later, the crash notification appears in the top panel.
