Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Feature request for Compiz/Hardy:

Metacity marks X windows coming from other hosts. For instance, if I were to run "ssh -X zalmox.local nautilus", where "zalmox.local" is another host on my network, the window title would be "Nautilus (on zalmox.local)" instead of "Nautilus". (I don't remember the exact wording.)

It would be great if Compiz did this too. It's very useful in cases (like above) when the same application is running locally and remotely.

Changed in compiz:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Confirmed
summary: - compiz should mark X applications running on other hosts

You can actually get it in karmic too if you enable the Title Bar Info plugin (titleinfo). I didn't know this existed because it didn't get included in the regular plugin packs until right before the 0.8.4 release so we didn't get it enabled by default.

It definitely will be enabled for lucid though.
