Bug Description

There are already dozen issues with qtparted listed and reported as bugs in kubuntu,It was ok if it crashed or gave me error messages of stopped working or hanged pc.i Faced rather terrible problem with it,it actually destroyed my partition table,removed/deleted my partition of 19gb worth of DATA important files and Shows
"LOST&FOUND" directory in it.i was baffled when it did.also there was no hope for me how to get back that partition or how to recover that data inside linux as i did shifted from xp.i was dual booting xp and kubuntu gutsy.on restart XP reports that drive as
RAW.i went through long list of applications on xp all trail and non solved my problem.
please replace this worst software with G PARTED and 3 things
1)ability to lock existing hard disk drives so that it doesn't
touch them.ensure my hard disk remains secure, partition table etc.
2)ability to recover deleted partitions or files on deleted
drives (can be in GB's also).
3)warnings before and after vital and important operations
such as hard disk detected, crash whatever.
"ENSURE: at least in next version that partitioning software
won't miss detect hard disk partitions".

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

Dear bug filer, it would probably be helpful if you could provide the information asked for.

I had a similar experience after running a live cd on a windows sys , it blew out the partitions on all 3 drives and seemed to leave a large temp data file on one of them , my conclusion is that there are some badly altered iso,s out there ... i will now only use a LTS version and only download my iso,s from a reputable source...

QtParted is unmaintained, so this will likely not be fixed.
KDE users are now recommended to use the "partionmanager" package to manage their paritions.
