Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I'm using3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 on my Laptop with Ubuntu Hardy Beta.

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Encryption -> View Certificates -> Add Exception -> Enter an URL -> Confirm Security Exception
When I click the last button nothing happens no exception is created and the menu stays open.

Maybe this is somehow related to this old bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/179706 where an exception was created but the menu still stayed open.

If no exception was created it cant be the same. How many have you tried?(different ones) does this happen on all URLs?

Please give us a small list of about 5 URLs this happens with so someone can test this.

Actually I did some testing and I found out that basically every other URL I tried can be added to the exception list only when I try this one there is no result when i click the button.

I guess it's not a firefox related bug, but a bug in the certificate setup. I contacted the site owner.

The same thing happens when I try to open my account from registration.boun.edu.tr The thing does not happen in Windows I could have added the exception in Windows but I couldn't in Ubuntu. And also at webmail.boun.edu.tr I don't know any other 5 sites that do this because mot of the sites do not have such security problem. I would be glad if you can help.

On version 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2, I'm also getting this problem with the sites mentioned here ( https://depend.cs.uni-sb.de/ and https://registration.boun.edu.tr/ ), and https://puredata.info//login_form .

Not being able to add a security exception, without any useful error message, seems like a bug to me.

I haven't thought about this problem for quite some time as it is fixed for me. The problem was that i had installed the extension ErrorZilla which displays a more useful error page than the normal firefox one. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the new error page behavior of firefox 3. So if you also have trouble you should check if you have this extension installed or another one that changes the error pages or if you have modified them by hand.

Thanks!

The gentoo bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org/253196 mentioned this can be caused by something in the profile. After some digging I found out in my case the problem goes away when I disable the fire.fm plugin. I created a bugreport in fire.fm's tracker at https://sourceforge.net/tracker2/?func=detail&aid=2517538&group_id=226773&atid=1069207

Yes, when I disable fire.fm the problem has been solved. I think it's a fire.fm bug not firefox.

seems to be fixed in fire.fm 1.1.5

I had the problem with the Add-on 'OMusic 1.5.8.7'. Disabling it took care of the problem for me.
