Messages received while being offline are displayed incorrectly under CP1251

Well, the problem is the following. It's Ubuntu 8.04 beta and pidgin 2.4.1 (using ICQ) and CP1251 (Windows Cyrilic - Russian) locale. Any message that was sent to me while I was offline will come to me as soon as I log in - but all the characters in the message would apppear as ???, so I can never get offline messages

Just change Учётные записи (выбери свою) > изменить > дополнительно > Кодировка . Измени на Windows-1251

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

Yes, it's reproducing in Ubuntu 9.10 and Pidgin 2.6.2.

And offline messages are in wrong CP1252 encoding.
