Bug Description
I run Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 with the Enigmail 0.95.6 extension . This bug happens on 8.04 Hardy (beta release with full updates); I do not know if it happens on Gusty since I did not run this distribution.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Receive an e-mail encrypted with your public key. Do not read the e-mail.
2. Select the e-mail to drag-and-drop it to another folder.
Result:
- Mouse icon changes to "drag and drop" icon
- Thunderbird attempts to read e-mail (display the contents in the email text content box)
- The password prompt for decrypting the e-mail with the personal key pops up
- Entire system is frozen.
The mouse icon stays in drag-and-drop mode. The cursor can be moved but not clicked.
The small password prompt window has focus, but text cannot be entered in the box.
Both mouse and keyboard are entirely useless. I found it impossible to call either another window, the main menu, the task manager, or the "switch off" menu.
Other applications seem to be unaffected and apparently keep working in the background (ex: bittorrent upload).
The only way out is to power off the computer brutally.
For me, this bug is fully reproducible and predictable.

Package Details:
thunderbird 2.0.0.12+
The Enigmail extension is 0.95.6, as re-used from my profile folder, imported from previous Linux installs (the extension was installed within Thunderbird). This is not the package available from Synaptic, which I did not know existed.
Ubuntu hardy 8.04 on HP nx7400 laptop, with full updates ran everyday.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I tried this on Intrepid with thunderbird 2.0.0.16 and can't reproduce the behavior. Is this still an issue for you?
