Getting the same problem here.

Tried to change so that the browser was not using any adblocker and so on but without result.

This occured for me on a semi-fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 beta. Semi-fresh meaning that I installed, enabled all the optional repos, threw on the nvidia-restricted drivers for my 8600, enabled compiz and browsed to www.ubuntu-guide.com. Every time I attempt to visit that site in firefox on this install, X restarts.

additional oddities: I went to the wiki links above that are supposed to crash X. When I had firefox maximized, X didn't crash, when I made firefox take up less than the whole screen and scrolled around the page, X then crashed.

status: Incomplete → New

As mentioned in the parent bug #212648

Workaround:
sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/nvidia/libwfb.so.xserver-xorg-core /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libwfb.so
