Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

version 0.25-0ubuntu1, ubuntu hardy.
I selected "Receive files from remote devices" but this does not work at login. To make the pc receive files I have to kill bluetooth-applet and relaunch it. This happens at _every_ login.

I've got the same situation... If I enable notebook's internal bluetooth (i've got special button for it, i think the button controls power of bluetooth adapter) or plug-in external bluetooth-adapter when linux is started and I logged in, there is no pop-up message about receiving files and it is not working (i've tested from Nokia 6290, Sony Ericsson z310i and from another PC, so this is not sending device problem!). But if you logout and login again with already enabled bluetooth-adapter (internal or external), the pop-up message will appear and receiving files will work. Then, I can disable and enable bluetooth, receiving will work. But if you disable, log out, login again and enable bluetooth-adapter, receiving don't work again. :(

Laptop: Acer Aspire 5920G, Ubuntu 8.04 Beta

Installed: bluez-gnome 0.25-0ubuntu1 and obex-data-server 0.3.1-0ubuntu1

Please, fix it before release of 8.04 LTS

I own the same laptop (Acer 5920G), and running Ubuntu 8.04, but I cannot reproduce your problem.
Bluetooth just works always fine, showing the popup when I press the BT button.

I have the same problem with 8.04 on Acer Aspire 1694wlmi
kill+relaunch fixes it, but does anyone have a quick fix for this as it is really annoying

Same for me, kill-relaunch fixes..

.. the problem receiving files is the most important to me, but I've noticed another strange behavior changing 'modalità operativa' (maybe operating mode, in english): [every following English translation is taken from Italian, so they are inaccurate, probably not correct too (you are allowed to make fun of me)]
if 'visible and available for other devices to connect' (the 2nd) is selected and i click on 'visible and available with limitations' (the 3rd), 'available for other devices to connect' (the 1st) becomes selected instead and the notification says 'the device is now available to connect'; the same notification appears if i go from the 3rd to the 1st (the 1st option becomes selected correctly).
If the the 3rd is selected and i click on the 2nd, the 1st becomes selected again and the notification says 'the device is now invisible'; the same notification appears if i go from the 2nd to the 1st (the 1st option becomes selected correctly).
Should i open a new bug report for this?

I am not sure but I think this bug does not occur in 8.10, can someone confirm?

File receiving isn't part of bluez-gnome 1.8 (in intrepid). You'll have to setup gnome-share instead.

Ok, thanks! I see (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez-gnome/+bug/259111) that 'Mode of operation' options have been improved too! Beautiful =)
So we have to wait for bluez-gnome 1.8 to be upgraded? Am i right?
Thanks a lot!

i'll have bluez-gnome 1.9 if you switch to Intrepid which is still in development, If you want to give it a try without breaking you current install, test the daily cd of tomorrow I think.
