"Always ask" doesn't work with video files

With totem-mozilla installed, Firefox ignores the Application actions in Preferences. I tried changing mpg and wmv files to "Always ask" in Preferences>Applications. However, when I click on a mpg or wmv link, totem's embedded player always starts up and I have to watch video in the browser.

Is totem-mozilla supposed to override Firefox's application actions?

I am running Hardy Heron 8.04 beta, fully updated.

Yes, plugins win. there is currently no concept how to do this
better. if you care about this, start discussion in mozillazine forums
and if you found backup there file a bug upstream.
