Bug Description
release: Ubuntu Hardy
kernel used is 2.6.24-15-generic but it might have started before.
At one point I've found that a mounted usb disk was not mounted in /media/disk, but on /media/disk___ so I had a look at /media and found other similarly named directories like:
/media/disk
/media/disk_
/media/disk__
/media/disk___
Of all these the first three were empty and only the last one contained the actual disk an data.
I have noticed that this happens when logging out and then in again while the usb-disk is still connected to the usb connector.
I have managed to restart the whole thing over after umounting the disk(s) and deleting all the relevant /media dirs and noticed that if the disks get umounted before logging out there will be no increase in the number of added dirs and the last one used will be picked up, so I reckon that the cause is that any automount created dir does not get cancelled during log out.
A similar thing happens in Kubuntu (I'm testing KDE 4), the only difference being the dir naming, typically disk-1, disk-2, and so on.
This happens with usb-HD, and usb sticks, but I guess it might affect anything that gets automounted
I can confirm this on Hardy KDE 4.
