Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
After upgrading to Ubuntu hardy (development branch) Release: 8.04 compiz was active, but in the configuration dialog none of the radio buttons was selected. Compiz used up all memory and made the system unusable, causing crashes in different applications.
Workaround for me was selecting "Visual Effects -> None"
Possible solution: The old prefernce should be kept after upgrading.

Hi Jürgen
Thanks for your report, did you upgrade from gutsy to hardy?, i don't remember having experience this myself but then again, i've made the upgrade about a year ago.
Thanks in advance.
