Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-guidance-powermanager

I use Kubuntu 8.04 beta now and i am notebook user and one thing that is missing is a good powermanager now i did install kde3 because it so i can start kde3 one but it should be good if it would be ported or added default so i dont need kde3.

A other problem is when i start vlc media player the brightness goes low and then i need to set it high again. And a other problem is the login screen is low brightness it goes high after start up would be better if would be high with login screen.

Ofcourse if you use battery i would be better to be lower but i most time use the power cable.

Guidance power manager heavily uses the dcop interface which is not avaible in kde4. Some sort of trasition / rewriting is needed to have it work under kde4.

@kurosaki
You should be able to install and start the power-manager in kde4 with no problem. But much too late for inclusion in hardy+kde4 as default.

isn't this somewhat important for intrepid? I am currently using kubuntu-kde4-desktop and the "battery monitor plasmoid" has at best very basic funcionality. on top of that, it does not work with any shortcuts (dimming, for instance) doesn't support hardware profiles (performance vs battery mode) ... is this going to be added?

ok maybe a lot at once but just out of curiosity as i've switched to kde4.1 in hardy :-)

The guidance-power-manager in Intrepid is KDE4. The KDE3 one doesn't exist in Intrepid.

is there a chance guidance-power-manager might make it into hardy-backports? hardy is LTS so it'd be nice to have a functional kde4 desktop for laptops there eventually.
