Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I created a launcher back in the feisty days (maybe even before) for firefox. I created it with "create launcher" (no manual editing) on the desktop. It worked fine in gutsy, but after my upgrade to hardy this stopped working and I only get a pretty generic error that the app can not be started: "There was an error launching this app".

When I remove the TryExec= line in this starter, it works fine again. It should probably just ignore empty lines like this or give a more meaningfull error.

Nautilus is probably not the right package, so reassign at will.

Thanks,
 Michael

good catch, that's a glib2.0 issue and fixed upstream as described on http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=528433

I see this is fixed in Intrepid; what's the plan for fixing this in Hardy? That's a (relatively new) LTS release and we're evaluating it as an upgrade from 6.06, but if this isn't resolved it would require hand-editing all desktop launchers in each user's profile, which would be a hard sell.

the bug is already fixed in glib 2.16.4 which is available as an update candidate and should move to hardy-updates today
