Bug Description

Binary package hint: ttf-gfs-artemisia

Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
ttf-gfs-artemisia 1.0-1
ttf-gfs-complutum 1.000-1

I installed these fonts via Synaptic in 8.04 and they are not recognized by OpenOffice and Abiword (Gedit sees the fonts, which leads me to believe that the fonts were installed properly and the font cache is up-to-date).

Looking at the font paths:

/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-gfs-artemisia
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-gfs-complutum

... I see that these are OpenType only, notTrue Type.

Most gfs (Greek Fonts Society) fonts also come in TrueType form:

http://www.greekfontsociety.gr/pages/gr_typefaces20th.html

I have installed a number of them manually (the TrueType variety) and they are recognized by both OpenOffice and Abiword.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
