When I want to go to an URL in Firefox I get this message :

I have forgotten to restart Firefox

same bug. I have already restarted Firefox. I'm listening at the same time, radio that opened new window.

I got prompted to update some new Firefox updates by the update manager. After doing so, Ubuntu told me to restart Firefox. Upon restarting Firefox, I get the same bug as listed above: "ASSERT: *** Search: _installLocation: engine has no file!".

try re-installing firefox: "sudo aptitude reinstall firefox"

actually, before doing that, make sure you've closed all firefox windows...
