package selection section has no packages to select

Same problem with me, on ubuntu 7.10
I don't understand how such a bug can remain for several months, as it is
really an issue: We are preparing to install Ubuntu on a large number
od dektops and laptops. Gutsy is still the latest release (Hardy is still in beta)

mcas: Rather than just sending pings, it would really only have taken you a minute or two to install the package and confirm that this bug is essentially still present. Please don't set this to Incomplete again.

Pierre: The reason I haven't addressed this is that it isn't really all that straightforward to present well in the UI, and yet it's very easy to work around and should not block anyone's work. All you need to do is edit the output Kickstart file and list the packages you want in the %packages section.

The package groups listed there don't apply, but you can use "@ Ubuntu Desktop" or "@ Kubuntu Desktop" for the ubuntu-desktop task, and otherwise just use package names.

If it's not so straightforward, I understand your reasons.
But, I already knew how to use kickstart with redhat, and what I need now is the names
of the Ubuntu groups, if any, to avoid entering hundreds of package names in ks.cfg.

Anyway, you should at least modify the help on package selection, featuring
a window showing all groups with their checkbox. I suspect that
you took this from a redhat box! I take this opportunity to mention an other
(minor) bug: there a shift between the selected item and the displayed help:
  to get the help on 'package selection', you must select 'display configuration"

The Ubuntu groups are those listed in 'tasksel --list-tasks'.

Of course this UI came from Red Hat - they invented Kickstart.

Same problem exists on 10.10 (Maverick). Is a six year old bug normal??? This was reported in 2005, and here it is now 2011.

The bug is not making the application useless but rather uncompleted.
