I'm running plain Debian Unstable AMD64, updated to the fullest. Not ubuntu, but the general deb has always worked before on my system. And Debian still has the 0.4.1 package, so I thought it was best to report this bug so it isn't in Debian with cGmail 0.5.

I can confirm this issue also occurs on a new installation of Jaunty with cGmail 0.5 installed.

Installation of python 2.5 (the python2.5 package) and changing cGmail to use python2.5 - by changing the first line of the /usr/bin/cgmail and /usr/bin/cgmailservice scripts allows cGmail to start.

E.g. #!/usr/bin/python is changed to #!/usr/bin/python2.5

Unfortunately I then receive the error below when checking my gmail account:
"Warning: <urlopen error (1, 'error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol')>"

Hi all
I have Ubuntu 9.04 and I solved this problem modifying the 2 python scripts cgmail and cgmailservice at first row:
from #!/usr/bin/python to #!/usr/bin/python2.5 (I have python2.5 and python 2.6 installed on my machine). I don't know if it's the right way, but it works

Could you please test this on Karmic? Please note package in Karmic is compatible with a newer python-support version than the one in Jaunty, so it won't work out of the box if you install package from Karmic on a Jaunty box.

Hi, I can confirm that its not working under karmic, I got the same message, I cannot go with the workaround by modifying those 2 files because I dont have python 2.5 installed, I have python version 2.6, I hope somebody can have a fix for this one, Thanks!
