Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacious

In the past I used audacious 1.3.x and 1.4.x with the un-official mac plugin (from here: http://www.netswarm.net/) audacious-mac-0.3.10, I never had a problem with it, it can play all my .ape files.

With audacious 1.5's new mac plugin, some files refuse to play, the player just stays idle with no error message. De-activating the new plugin and activating the old mac plugin makes things work. Hopefully the new plugin can be fixed.

Thank you for reporting this bug. However, in order to solve it, we need
a sample of one of the .ape files which is not supported by our decoder.
Please attach such an .ape file and I will direct this toward the
appropriate person.

This file refused because of id3v2 in the beginning. Currently libdemac detects file format strictly by 'MAC' signature. Can be fixed easily, I'll do it this evening or tomorrow.

Bugfix pushed to //hg/proposed/audacious-plugins-1.5 (proposed bugfixes for 1.5). You can wait for 1.5.1, or use this patch in your discretion.

This debdiff should fix the problem. Thanks for the patch, Eugene Zagidullin.

Ari, you may test this patch by visiting my PPA and installing the audacious-plugins deb over your current one. Please let me know if it works.

Please also attach an APE file with the problem to this report. Thank you.

Thanks xtknight. I installed the new debs (plugins and pugins-extra for AMD64) but still no joy, same behavior as before (the player stays idle after I open the .ape file when the new native codec is selected).
(please check your inbox for a file sample).

Thanks

I did indeed mess it up (for all architectures). The patch didn't get into debian/patches/00list.

Here is an updated debdiff.

Ari, please try the audacious-plugins ~ppa3 (ppa_three) packages in my PPA.

These fix the problem for me with your test file, even on amd64. Sorry for the confusion.

Intrepid ships version 1.5.0-1ubuntu3, could you please prepare a new debdiff against new version?
Please, resubscribe u-u-s when a new debdiff will be available, thanks :)

Luca, Ari:

The APE file sample works fine on the Intrepid audacious. I am closing the bug for now. Feel free to reopen if you still experience the problem.

Thanks!
