Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Please add your ubuntu version and the output of "apt-cache search adept".

Sometimes. I work mostly offline. I visit an internet cafe with my
notebook and send mail using Thunderbird. After that I open Adept and
reload, then update. Usually this is without problems.
Since installing 8.04 beta, sometimes Adept crashes, sometimes not. I
haven't done anything different, except for download and install the
recent updates.

I'm not sure. Maybe wait a few days, if it happens again, I'll let you
know. If not, it is possibly linked with another application that may
have been fixed.

Adept crashed again today. There were 41 updates and I chose 'Full
upgrade', then 'Apply'. It downloaded the whole 110 MB, and installed
them, then at the end crashed.

Attached is the backtrace.

Hope that this helps.

Greetings. I have found something that will help with Adept manager
crashing.
I was using an internet cafe, plugged the cable in and replied to mail.
One reply was long and for some reason, either Kubuntu 8.04 or the server
cut the connection, although the timer was still charging me for time.
When I tried to send my reply, Thunderbird couldn't connect and when I
tried to update Adept it crashed as the connection to the server wasn't
working.
Rather than crash, it should have detected that there was no active
connection and given a message that a internet connection is needed to
update.

Hope that this helps.

Today, Adept crashed again.

What I did. Connected to the internet, opened Adept, full update,
apply. No problems.
Closed adept. Did some mail on Thunderbird.

Opened Adept again. Typed "openoffice" in the search, pressed enter,
and it crashed.
Attached is the screenshot.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in adept.
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Can you tell us if this is still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/KDE. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.
