Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Gutsy 7.10 w/latest

This is more of a suggestion than a bug-proper.

Reason for request: Sometimes old stored SSIDs can conflict with new settings. There should be a way via the GUI to manually delete or rescan and update settings for an SSID or set of SSIDs.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=299367 right now is the only way to delete previously-used SSIDs.

Manual deletion is tedious and not user-friendly.

Programming Network Manager to prompt the user when old settings are no longer viable for the same SSID would also be of help.

thanks

Hardy (Ubuntu 8.04) will include a newer version of Network Manager that includes an editor for this configuration information. You should be able to right-click on the icon and select "Edit Wireless Networks" to configure this information. See http://blogs.gnome.org/dcbw/2008/03/06/free-fast-and-hot/ for the announcement.
