Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Using Hardy Beta

Package name: firefox (firefox v3)

Tried creating a boolean entry in about:config named "extensions.checkCompatibility" value="false", this did not work, the add ons page still shows that this version is not compatible.

--

Package name: firefox-2

Tried adding the snaplinks add-on, broke at installation.

(see screenshot)

ERROR CONSOLE:
Error: oldInstallLocation has no properties
Source File: file:///usr/lib/firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js
Line: 3054

Is this the only addon you have trouble with? Can you please list all of your addons here. Can you also please give exact version of firefox you are seeing this issue on and can you please make sure the addon is for firefox-3 please provide link to broken addons

The same thing happened to me, but with Firebug when I attempted to install it in Firefox2. I'm on Hardy Heron and attempted this with the latest version of Firefox2

This just started for me. I have FF 2.0.0.14 installed and working fine in Gutsy. Last night I upgraded to Hardy, and it installed 3.0 Beta 5. This was not compatible with many of my extensions. I reinstalled 2 and got the exact same error listed above. I removed 3 and now I get "oldinstallLocation has no properties."

Either way I cannot enable the greyed out add-ins or install new ones...

Hey Guys, If you want to remove both copies and reinstall firefox-2 clean you can do this:

1)export your bookmarks otherwise you will loose them
2) sudo apt-get purge firefo*
3) sudo apt-get install firefox-2

That way firefox 2 won't collide with anything remaining from firefox 3. Until Firefox 3 is out of beta and more plug ins are supported. I'm sticking with what's stable and works with my favourite plug ins.

this is an issue of the addons.mozilla.org website filtering out
results based on your user agent version.

Please include valid way of overriding user agent version for plug-in/add-on testing.
