Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

With a clean install of Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 64 bit with an ATI radeon 1150, I receive flickering while rotating the compiz cube.

I have all the dependent compiz packages installed.

I have found that this does not occur when the neat 3d-windows option is disabled. It also does not happen when 3d-windows is enabled but all windows are closed.

Other users are experiencing the same problem here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=742813

I assume this must be a common problem since I received many responses with the same problem in a short amount of time.

Thank-you

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

Yes, I tried it again on Ubuntu 8.10 x86_64 when it was completed. I have not tested Ubuntu 9.04 yet. Again, this is only on x86_64 systems for me.

Thank you for your response!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I have never been able to reproduce this problem and still can't. If you still can in karmic please run `apport-collect 210701` to add up-to-date information to this bug.
