Bug Description

As a people photographer I often have portraits as my desktop wallpaper. Unfortunately, the one positioning I used most in KDE 3.5 "Maxpect" doesn't appear to be available in KDE4. The only options I see are "Scale & Crop", "Scaled", "Centered", "Tiled" and "Center tiled".

The "maxpect" option used to maximize the background image size while keeping its aspect ratio, and without cropping anything off the borders.

Ubuntu release:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release: 8.04
Codename: hardy

I'm not sure which package manages the desktop background settings in KDE 4.

This is simply not yet implemented in KDE 4.
You will have to wait, It has to be implemented by upstream (KDE).
Marking as invalid as it will not be fixed by Kubuntu.

Changed in kdebase:
status: New → Invalid
