Bug Description

Binary package hint: flightgear

When the Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse is plugged in, fgfs (flightgear) and js_demo (joystick test programm) both stop with segmentation faults.

This is experienced on Ubuntu 8.04 and Flightgear 1.0.0, Plib 1.8.4

Workarounds:
#1 unplug your Sidewinder Mouse, fgfs and js_demo work without segfault

#2 In /dev/input there is a joystick entry for my Mouse (dev/input/js0 on my system - checked with cat dev/input/js0 - some mouse buttons are detected as joystick buttons). When the entry is deleted (root only) fgfs and js_demo work just fine without segfaulting and the mouse is still operating fine. (After you unplug and replug your mouse, the dev/input/ entry will be recreated.)

(Problem should be probably related to Plib)

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
