Bug Description

I have tried installing Kubuntu Breezy preview (daily build 20050902).
Xorg version in it is: 6.8.2-56.
My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce FX 5200.
Monitor is Sony CPD-E400E.

During installation I was presented with resolutions up to 1024x768, so I chose manually also 1280x1024.
It works fine on Suse with refresh rate 88Hz, so it is supported by monitor.

After booting, xserver started but the screen was blank. I could switch to text consoles, but switching to vt7
always gave me blank screen and monitor entered power saving mode.

I run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and this time chose resolutions up to 1024x768 and then it started OK, but
the refresh rate was only 75Hz.

This is log from failed attempt to start - probably, I might have overwritten
it during reconfiguration and following restart of Xserver.

If you run sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg, and allow autodetection of
your monitor, is everything okay then? I think this is yet another
broken-CD-generation bug (no xresprobe).

I have run the above command:
1. Text screen during reconfiguration was garbled.
2. It didn't ask me about autodetection of monitor, I got first screen - choosing video
driver ("nv" was chosen by default, so I left it that way), then screen with resolutions - it
was garbled but I am pretty sure 1024x768 was the highest resolution marked).
3. After starting kdm back I have resolution 1024x768 at 60Hz. So it is still not OK.

xresprobe is not installed, neither is discover*.

That's the problem. These packages are needed for autoconfiguration. They are
installed by default when installing Ubuntu, though it is possible that the
daily build you tried was buggy.
