Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

upgrading from gutsy to hardy 8.04 beta 4 on older intel 32 based pc. dell dimension 4100. downloaded all the packages, complete install processing and was to begin clean up phase when upgrade stopped. not sure what info you need. last line of the terminal in the update manager says:

"IOError: {Errno 9] Bad file descriptor
hardy: Fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descriptor) on X server :0.0."

previously during the upgrade, the update manager reported errors related to the upgrade of Alien Arena. not sure if that had anything to do with it.

if there are other files needed, let me know. I can run the upgrade again if you want. this is a back up PC so I was just testing it out.

I rebooted this machine after it gave me the error on the distribution upgrade. I cleaned the packages up manually with aptitude. Seems normal now. Not sure what the error was about...

Let me know if you need more info.

The cause of the failure was:

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/alien-arena-data_6.10-1_all.deb (--unpack):

The cleaning of packages has freed some space, and then you could continue the update. I'm closing this report because it is not a bug in Ubuntu.

Don't hesitate to submit any new bug.
