Bug Description

Ubuntu 8.04, Gnome 2.22.0, kernel 2.6.24-12-generic

System->Administration->Network shows my wireless device connection as ticked. I press unlock and then click on the tick next to the wireless connection. It unticks but is immediately ticked again. I can verify at this stage that the connection has been disconnected despite it showing as ticked. In order to reconnect I have to click again to un-tick, then click to re-tick at which point the interface is reconfigured showing a progress bar and begins working.

Wireless is USB device, using kernel at76c503 driver (/build/buildd/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-2.6.24/debian/build/build-generic/wireless/at76/at76c503.c).

Same behavior here: I have a wireless and a wired connection, and both show the same:
Clicking one time does not un-tick. Second time: sometimes a real disconnect (and shown !)
Only then, it's possible to re-connect to the networks.

It is consistent behavior. Reproduces really well.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

the dialog you are using is not a network-manager facility. Keep the setting as "roaming" if you want to use network-manager.

Note, this doesnt exist in intrepid and later, so i think its ok to mark this as wont fix.
