I think you may have reported this bug against the wrong package. The ubuntu-weatherreport package is for the prototype html page: http://people.ubuntu.com/~ogasawara/weatherreport.html which was created for the following spec https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/DeveloperWeatherReport .

I think the package you want is gnome-applets? which I've reassigned this to. Although, I have gnome-applets version 2.22.0-0ubuntu1 installed and Santiago, Chile appears in the list of locations for the weather report applet. Hope that helps. Thanks.

Thanks you, jasonq, for telling us. You can close bugs by setting the status of the package which the bug is reported against to "invalid". For more detailed information have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status.

Thanks, Martin. But it looks like I literally cannot change this bug status. I am not even given the hyperlink options to do it. Perhaps the marking as duplicate did it. I could change the status of the bug that this was marked a duplicate of... just not this one.

Thanks for asking that. I forgot to tell you that you can not change the status of a bug when it has been marked as a duplicate of another bug. When you really wanted to change the status (for example when it was wrong to mark it as a duplicate and you want to confirm a bug) edit the duplicate state of this bug by clicking on the button next to the number above the package and remove the number. Then you are able to edit the status again :)
