Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Ubuntu 7.10 with Firefox 2.0.0.13

http://www.if.com/toolsandcalculators/offsetcalculator.aspx

Clicking on the 'Try our offset calculator' link in the middle of the page causes Firefox to hang and need killing and restarting to do anything with it.

The offending markup:

<a href=\"javascript:void(0);\" title=\"Link opens in a popup window - Try our offset calculator\" onclick=\"popup=window.open('/toolsandcalculators/offsetcalcpopup.aspx', 'popUp', 'width=1011, height=708, scrollbars=yes, location=no, menubars=no, toolbar=no, resizable=no');\">Try our offset calculator</a>

Which is produced via document.write()

However, I can view it fine using Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Windows Vista. A popup window opens and the content is displayed properly.

For me the mentioned link works in gutsy. It opens a window with a flash-animation, maybe flash is causing issues for you?

Thanks Gert,

Hmm, I'm listening to BBC Radio 1 at the same time, and seem to remember reading somewhere about Flash and sound system interaction problems.

I'll try to narrow it down.

I get the same problem with this version of flash as well, but only when I'm listening to music (via BBC Radio 1 streaming, for example). So it appears to be a problem with opening flash content in Firefox, when the audio system is busy. I think I've definitely read a bug report about this elsewhere, so this can probably be considered a duplicate of that bug report.

Changed to flash task as this is flash and sound server. we are working on flash 10 as well as pulse audio backports and when that is done it will fix this bug if pulseaudio is set to default or using libflashsupport (also will be backported)
