Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

It would be so nice to be able to specify an alternative repo during install.

Situation: I install with network cable unplugged. At first reboot, I plug network cable, and then edit sources.list to use my local repositories. The apt-get update/upgrade.

Might be possible, but it seems to violate ubiquity's general idea of having a small and simple UI. Does System -> Administration -> Software Sources not do the job?

Thanks for doing all this great work !!! Can't be said enough.

However, the point is, *during* install (when System -> Administration ->
Software is not available yet !), it is checking the security repository
and probably some more. This in effect means that if I install a 7.10 cd
in 8.02, it is downloading quite some stuff during install. But, for
people with slow lines, who have local repo, this is a waste of time,
especially if you want to set up many machines.

So, what I do, is I install from a cd, with network unplugged. Only after
the full install and reboot, I plug in the network. Then I change sources
and do agu (apt-get upgrade && apt-get update)

It would be good, that, similar to entering a http proxy, that an
alternative repo could be given. It's a wish :-)

Cheers,
ace

I've just noticed that this is essentially the same as bug 202052, so I'll mark it as a duplicate. Thanks.
