Bug Description
HPLIP on Hardy Ubuntu/Kubuntu doesn't recognize the preconfigured printer. Xsane/Kooka is also affected. Scanner apps have to be run as root to work. Temporarily solved by adding user to lp and scanner groups. Confirmed with other printer brands/models on Ubuntu forums.

We'd be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem. /wiki.ubuntu. com/DebuggingPr intingProblems.
This information can help you in debugging printing problems: https:/
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Reporting 2 different issues into the same bug report is not a good idea, it is better to file seperate bug reports in that case.

Can you provide a link to the forum threads?
Thanks!
