Bug Description

Binary package hint: slimserver

Hi, I have tried to install Slimserver 6.3.0-5 (the default app in the Hardy repos, the program downloads and is displayed in Firefox by logging on to localhost:9000. My music folder is located and scanned and the subsequent listings shown on Firefox. However although the Squeezebox remote wireless unit connects and my music list is readable, individual songs will not play? An error appears "Can't connect to server" on the squeezebox unit.

I informed Slimdevices.com support and they suggested I remove slimserver and install their latest version Squeezecenter.

I therefore did a clean install of Hardy and setup up the sources list and dowloaded Squeezecenter 7.0. On typing localhost:9000 in Firefox an error is displayed "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:9000". I did try http://127.0.0.1:9000 to no avail.

The Slimserver program worked fine in Feisty and Gutsy. Having trawled the lists at the Slimdevices forums and at Ubuntu it appears this problem is well known.

Regards

Tony

I am running into the same issue. When I look at the Squeezecenter logs (var/log/Squeezecenter), it seems the connection to the MySQL server is not working [Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/squeezecenter-mysql.sock' (2)].

I got the slimserver connection sorted it was in /etc/default/slimserver

I had to comment out the following:-

# Set this to zero to disable slimserver startup.
START=1

# This limits http access to the local host.
# Comment it out for network-wide access, or change
# to enable a single interface.
#HTTP_ADDR=127.0.0.1

So Slimserver is ok now but I did try squeezecenter and i cannot
connnect via the browser to localhost?
